Case Management System Integrations

Last updated: September 29, 2026

Overview

A case management system integration connects a firm's CMS to Eve so that matters and their documents arrive in Eve without anyone uploading them.

Connections are set up on the Integrations page. Once one is live, a case opened in the CMS becomes a matter in Eve, and the documents attached to it come across with it.

Supported Systems

Eve integrates with a number of available case management systems. Currently we support the following case management systems:

  • Clio

  • Litify

  • SmartAdvocate

  • Growpath / Jove

  • Casepeer

  • MyCase

  • Smokeball

  • Casepacer

For a proprietary or unlisted system, a custom integration built on Eve's public APIs may be possible. See 📄 Public APIs in Eve.

How Matters Arrive

Two creation modes are available, chosen when the integration is configured:

  • On-demand matter creation. Matters are created in Eve but stay inactive until someone activates them. Nothing runs against a matter until a person decides it should.

  • Sync matter creation. Matters are created and activated as soon as the case is opened in the CMS, so processing begins without anyone touching it.

Which matters and document types are eligible can be narrowed by folder structure, tags, fields, or other criteria, depending on the system. That filter is what keeps unrelated case types out of Eve.

Syncing runs nightly, with a manual re-sync available during the day. The difference between them matters. See 📄 How Integration Syncing Works in Eve.

Which Direction Data Moves

A standard CMS integration reads. Eve pulls matters and documents in, and the CMS stays the source of truth for case information.

What CMS Integrations Do Not Do

  • Only one case management system can be connected per Eve account. One CMS and one document management system can run together, but not two of either.

  • Connecting does not backfill everything. Eligibility rules set at configuration decide what comes across.

  • Eve does not charge for integrations, but a case management provider may charge for API access, data export, or premium integration features. Those fees are set by that provider.

Key Terms

  • On-demand matter creation: Matters are created in Eve but activated by a person.

  • Sync matter creation: Matters are created and activated automatically when the case is opened in the CMS.

  • Eligibility criteria: The folder, tag, or field rules deciding which matters and documents sync.

  • Write-back: Sending reviewed data from Eve into the case management system, as a confirmed action rather than part of syncing.
