How Integration Syncing Works in Eve
Last updated: September 29, 2026
Overview
Syncing is how a connected system's data gets into Eve. Two different syncs run, they do different things, and knowing which is which explains most of the cases where something expected to appear did not.
The short version: the nightly sync updates everything, the manual re-sync only finds new matters.
What Syncs
From a connected case management system or document storage, Eve pulls:
Matter information, including names, statuses, and contacts
Files and folders
Case details and notes
User assignments
How long it takes depends on the volume and the system. A matter with thousands of files takes longer, which is normal rather than a fault.
The Two Syncs
Nightly sync | Manual re-sync | |
|---|---|---|
Runs | Automatically overnight, typically between midnight and early morning | When someone selects the re-sync control |
Finds new matters | Yes | Yes |
Updates existing matters | Yes, including status changes | No |
The manual re-sync is on the Integrations page and the All Matters page. Use it during the day to bring in a matter opened that morning.
The Case That Catches People Out
A matter moved from closed back to open in the case management system will not change in Eve until the nightly sync runs. The manual re-sync does not update existing matters, so pressing it repeatedly will not help.
The same applies to any change to a matter that already exists in Eve: a renamed case, a new assignee, a changed status. Those wait for the overnight run.
What Syncing Does Not Do
It does not run in real time. A document added to the connected system at 2pm is not in Eve at 2:01pm.
The manual re-sync is not a shortcut to the nightly one. It covers new matters only.
It does not write anything back by itself. Standard syncing reads from the connected system. Write-back to a case management system is a separate, explicitly confirmed action.
Key Terms
Nightly sync: The automatic overnight run that updates existing matters and discovers new ones.
Manual re-sync: The on-demand run that discovers new matters only, available on the Integrations page and the All Matters page.
Sync in progress: The status shown while Eve is pulling data from a connected system.
Sync failed: The status shown when a sync could not complete.
