Permission Roles in Eve
Last updated: March 10, 2026
Overview
Permission roles in Eve determine what users can see and do within your firm's workspace. Eve offers two roles—Firm Admin and User—to give law firms control over access and administrative capabilities while ensuring everyone has the tools they need to work effectively.
How It Works
When someone is invited to Eve, they are assigned one of two roles. The role determines their level of access to matters, users, content, and administrative functions across the firm's workspace.
Firm Admin is an administrative role with full visibility and control across the workspace. Firm Admins can oversee all matters, manage all users, and maintain control over firm-wide content. This role is designed for partners, practice managers, IT administrators, or anyone responsible for managing your firm's operations in Eve. You can have multiple Firm Admins.
User is a standard role with access to assigned matters and features. Users can work on matters they create or are added to, use all of Eve's Skills, create their own playbooks and blueprints, and collaborate with teammates on shared matters. Users have the permissions they need to do their work without administrative overhead.
Both roles can fully utilize Eve's AI capabilities—the difference is in administrative access and firm-wide visibility.
