Firm Admin

The administrative role, for partners, practice managers, IT administrators, or whoever owns the firm's operations in Eve. A firm can have as many as it needs.

Firm Admin is the only role that can modify firm-wide settings, billing, usage, and other people's work. If nobody at the firm is an administrator, nobody can change a role, remove a departed user, or fix a misconfigured agent.

If your firm has no Firm Administrator, please reach out to our support team by emailing support@eve.legal.

Intake Manager

An optional role for a user who needs to modify intake settings. Intake Manager is an additional, optional role that only appears for firms using the Intake feature. It allows any user or administrator to modify intake settings.

  • The Intake and Attorney view switcher on the Leads board, defaulting to Attorney view, which puts Supervisor Review and Signed at the top.

  • Call scores.

  • The intake dashboard and Settings → Intake.

It grants nothing administrative. An Intake Manager cannot change roles, reach billing, or manage other people's matters or agents.

Taking the time to set permissions is crucial when setting up an Eve account for your firm. Most firms start with everyone as a User. Anyone who manages intake or vets leads will open the Leads board, see Intake view with no switcher, and wonder where the conversion queue went. A Firm Admin or Eve support sets the role.

User

The standard role, and the right one for most people at the firm. A User does the actual legal work: matters, agents, drafting, research, and collaboration with colleagues.

A User can still invite new people to the firm. Inviting is open to everyone; changing what an existing person can do is not.

Key Terms

  • Firm Admin. The permission role with firm-wide visibility, user management, matter control, and access to settings, billing and usage.

  • Intake Manager. An optional permission role adding the intake dashboard, call scores and the Attorney view switcher, with no administrative access.

  • User. The standard permission role, with full use of Eve and no firm-wide administrative control.

  • Private agent. An agent visible only to the person who created it. A Firm Admin can still manage it.
