Supported File Types and Size Limits in Eve

Overview
Eve reads documents, images, audio, video, and email. Each type has its own size cap, and some have a page cap as well. A file over its cap is rejected at upload with an error naming the file that exceeded the limit.
This article is the single reference for what Eve accepts and how large it can be.

Batch and Matter Limits
1,000 files per upload. Split anything larger into several uploads.
5 GB total per upload. The combined size of everything in one action.
20,000 files per matter, across every upload to that matter.
Each upload is processed independently and counts toward the matter total.
What Video Does and Does Not Include
Eve transcribes a video's audio track and indexes the transcript, the same way audio files are handled. The extracted audio can be played back alongside the transcript.
The visual content is not analyzed. There is no scene, object, face, or on-screen text recognition. A video with no audio track, or whose audio contains no transcribable speech, is marked unsupported.
What Eve Will Not Accept
Password protected files. Eve cannot enter a password. Remove the protection before uploading.
Native Google Docs. Use File > Download in Google Docs to save as .doc or .docx first.
Zip archives. Extract the archive into a regular folder before uploading. Eve does not unzip.
Folders and Cloud Storage
Uploading a folder preserves its folder and subfolder structure, mirroring the local drive or document management system it came from.
Files stored in Dropbox must be fully downloaded to the computer first. Dragging a Dropbox folder that has not downloaded uploads file links rather than the files themselves.
