Quote Verification
Last updated: April 2, 2026
Overview
Quote Verification is Eve's feature that validates whether quotes in Eve's responses actually appear in the source documents you provided. It runs automatic checks on every quote Eve provides and marks confirmed quotes with a green highlight, giving you confidence that they appear in your source materials.
How It Works
When Eve generates a response that includes quotes from your documents, Quote Verification automatically runs a series of validation checks against the source files. Each quote is then hyperlinked to its source document and, if verified, annotated with a green highlight.
Quote Verification cannot process quotes shorter than 20 characters, as these brief phrases often appear in multiple locations across documents and would produce unreliable matches.
Understanding AI Hallucination
AI systems like Eve can sometimes generate inaccurate information through a process called "hallucination" — where the AI creates or fabricates information based on its general training rather than the specific facts in your documents. As a legal professional using AI, you have an ethical and professional responsibility to verify all results Eve provides, especially for official legal purposes.
Key Terms
Green Highlight: Eve found the quote in the source document. You can click the quote to jump directly to that location in the document.
20-Character Minimum: Quote Verification only processes quotes of 20 characters or longer. Shorter phrases are too common across documents to produce reliable verification results.
