Notes & Tasks

Last updated: July 2, 2026

Overview

Notes & Tasks is a set of features in Eve that let your team capture case context and track follow-up work directly inside a matter. Notes record case-specific information that Eve can reference later, and Tasks assign follow-up work with owners and due dates so nothing gets lost across your caseload. Notes & Tasks is currently in beta and is being rolled out gradually, so it may not yet be enabled for your firm.

How It Works

Notes and Tasks both live in the matter Activity feed, alongside the rest of a matter's case activity.

A Note captures case-specific context — such as a client update, a strategy note, a call takeaway, or any detail that may not live in a document. Once added to a matter, a note becomes part of the matter context Eve can reference when answering questions or drafting.

A Task is a piece of follow-up work assigned on a matter. Each task can carry an assignee and a due date, and is tracked from the matter Activity feed until it is complete.

My Tasks is a cross-matter view that gathers the open tasks assigned to you from across all of your matters in one place, so follow-up work stays visible regardless of which matter it belongs to. Tasks can also be viewed inside the Activity feed of the matter they belong to.

Notes & Tasks is built to capture context and track follow-up work inside Eve. It does not replace your case management system.

Key Terms

  • Note: A piece of case-specific context added to a matter (for example, a client update or call takeaway) that becomes part of the matter context Eve can reference.

  • Task: A follow-up item assigned on a matter, with an optional assignee and due date, tracked until complete. (This is a to-do your team owns — distinct from an Eve agent task, the long-running job Eve runs and reports on.)

  • Activity feed: The matter timeline where notes, tasks, and other case activity appear.

  • My Tasks: The cross-matter view showing the open tasks assigned to you across all matters.
