Voice AI Signing in Eve

Last updated: July 2, 2026

Overview

Voice AI Signing allows Eve's voice agent (Jenny) send a retainer agreement to a caller during a live intake call and complete the signing without handing the call off to a human. Once the caller signs, the retainer is stored on the lead in Eve, the lead status flips to "Signed", and the signed status is pushed to the firm's connected lead system. It exists because speed to sign strongly predicts whether a lead converts, and every handoff to send and chase a retainer is a chance for the lead to cool off.

How It Works

During a live intake call, signing follows this sequence:

  1. The caller reaches the voice agent, which runs standard Voice AI intake to collect information and score the lead.

  2. The agent evaluates the firm's warm transfer rules first. If a transfer rule matches, the caller is routed to a human and signing is not attempted on that call.

  3. If no transfer rule matches, the agent evaluates the firm's signing rules. If the call meets the criteria, the agent offers to send a retainer.

  4. The retainer is sent through DocuSign using one of the firm's templates. The caller receives a DocuSign link by email, and by SMS if the firm's DocuSign account supports SMS delivery.

  5. The caller signs while still on the call. The agent waits, answers questions, and confirms when the signature is recorded.

  6. Once DocuSign confirms the signature, the lead status flips to signed in Eve, the signed PDF is stored on the lead as an Eve document, and the signed status is pushed to the firm's connected lead system.

Key behaviors and limits:

  • Warm transfers take priority. Transfer rules are always evaluated before signing rules, so firms can reserve specific situations (for example, catastrophic cases) for human staff and let the agent sign everything else.

  • DocuSign only. Firms need their own paid DocuSign account(a free account will not work). Only the retainers the agent sends during live calls go through DocuSign; firms can keep their existing e-sign tool for everything else.

  • What the caller sees. The caller receives a DocuSign envelope by email, plus an SMS link if SMS delivery is configured, and signs through DocuSign normally. SMS retainers come from 21093, a DocuSign-owned shortcode that is not customizable.

  • Downstream sync. The signed status syncs to Clio Grow, Salesforce, LeadDocket, and SmartAdvocate — but only when the signature is completed during the live call.

  • Single signer only. Voice AI Signing supports one signer per retainer; multi-signer retainers are not supported.

  • No conflict check. Eve does not run conflict checks before signing; firms account for conflicts in their own intake process and signing-rule configuration.

  • Storage. The signed PDF is stored on the lead in Eve and is not synced to any system outside Eve.

Key Terms

  • Signing rules: Firm-defined criteria, set with the Eve Intake team during onboarding, that determine when the agent offers to send a retainer. Evaluated only after warm transfer rules.

  • Retainer template: A DocuSign template, loaded in the firm's DocuSign account, that the agent uses to generate the retainer it sends.

  • Downstream sync: Pushing the signed status from Eve to the firm's connected lead system (Clio Grow, Salesforce, LeadDocket, or SmartAdvocate); happens only for signatures completed during the live call.
