How to Close a Matter in Eve

This article shows you how to close a matter in Eve when you're finished with a case. Closing a matter archives it and removes it from your active list while keeping all data intact — including documents, conversations, and drafts. You can reopen a closed matter at any time from the Closed tab.

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Navigate to your matters page — Go to the main matters view where you see your list of active cases.

  2. Hover over the matter you want to close — Find the specific matter in your list and hover your cursor over it. You should see action options appear.

  3. Select Close — Click the Close option. The matter will immediately move to your "Closed" tab and disappear from your active matters list.

How to Reopen a Closed Matter

  1. Access your Closed tab — Navigate to the Closed matters tab to view all archived matters.

  2. Select the matter you want to reopen — Find the matter you want to restore to your active list.

  3. Select Reopen — Click the Reopen option. The matter will move back to your active matters list with all its data intact.
