How to Manage User Roles and Permissions in Eve

Last updated: March 10, 2026

Overview

This article walks you through inviting new users to your Eve workspace, granting Firm Admin permissions to existing users, and revoking Firm Admin permissions when needed. These workflows allow Firm Admins to control access levels and administrative capabilities across your firm's Eve account.

Prerequisites

  • You must be logged in to Eve as a Firm Admin

  • You must have access to the Users page in your Eve workspace

Step-by-Step Instructions

Inviting a New User

  1. Navigate to the Users page — Log in to Eve and click on "Users" in your workspace navigation. You should see a list of all current users in your firm.

  2. Start the invitation process — Click the "Invite User" or "Add Member" button. This will open a dialog or form where you can enter the new user's information.

  3. Enter the user's email address — Type the email address of the person you want to invite to Eve. The user will be added as a standard User by default with access to Eve's features but without administrative privileges.

  4. Send the invitation — Complete the invitation process. The new user will receive access to Eve as a User and can begin working on matters they create or are added to.

Granting Firm Admin Permissions

  1. Navigate to the Users page — From your Eve workspace, go to the "Users" page where you can see all members of your firm.

  2. Locate the user — Find the user you want to promote to Firm Admin in the list of users.

  3. Open the user options menu — Click on the ellipsis (…) next to the user's name. This will open a menu of available actions for that user.

  4. Grant admin access — Select "Grant Firm Admin" from the menu. The user will immediately receive Firm Admin permissions, giving them full visibility and control over your firm's Eve workspace, including the ability to view all matters, manage users, and access billing information.

Revoking Firm Admin Permissions

  1. Navigate to the Users page — From your Eve workspace, go to the "Users" page.

  2. Locate the Firm Admin — Find the Firm Admin whose permissions you want to revoke in the list of users.

  3. Open the user options menu — Click on the ellipsis (…) next to the Firm Admin's name to open the actions menu.

  4. Revoke admin access — Select "Revoke Firm Admin" from the menu. The user will retain their access to Eve and can continue working on their matters, but they will lose all administrative privileges including the ability to view all firm matters, manage other users, and access billing information. They will function as a standard User going forward.
