How to Reset Multi-Factor Authentication for a User in Eve
Last updated: March 10, 2026
Overview
This article walks you through resetting multi-factor authentication (MFA) for a user in your Eve account. Firm admins can perform this reset directly from the Eve users page without needing to delete and re-invite the user. This is useful when a user loses access to their MFA device or needs to set up MFA on a new device.
Prerequisites
You must be a Firm Admin in Eve
The user must already exist in your Eve account
Step-by-Step Instructions
Navigate to the Users Page — Go to app.eve.legal/users in your browser. You should see a list of all users in your Eve account.
Locate the User — Find the user who needs their MFA reset in the user list. You can scroll through the list or use the search function if available.
Reset the MFA — Click the Reset Multi-Factor Auth option for that user. The user's MFA settings will be cleared, and they will be prompted to set up MFA again the next time they log in to Eve.
Important: Never delete and re-invite a user to reset their MFA. Always use the Reset Multi-Factor Auth flow described above to preserve the user's account settings and data access.
