File Upload Limits in Eve

Overview

Eve has specific file size and batch upload limits that determine how much content you can add to a matter at one time. These limits ensure optimal performance and prevent system overload when processing large document collections.

How It Works

Eve enforces upload limits at two levels: individual file size and batch upload capacity. Individual file limits vary by file type based on typical usage patterns and processing requirements. Batch limits control how many files you can upload in a single action and the total storage capacity per matter.

Individual File Size Limits

Each file type has a maximum size threshold:

• PDFs: Up to 2.5GB and 10,000 pages

• MS Word documents: Up to 500MB and 2,000 pages

• Text files: Up to 3MB

• Images: Up to 10MB

• Emails: Up to 150MB

• Audio files: Up to 500MB

• Video files: Up to 2.5GB

If a file exceeds its type-specific limit, Eve will reject the upload and display an error message indicating which file exceeded the limit.

Batch Upload Limitations

When uploading multiple files at once, the following constraints apply:

• Maximum 1,000 files per batch — you can upload up to 1,000 files in a single upload action

• Total batch size must be under 5GB — the combined size of all files in one batch cannot exceed 5GB

• Maximum 20,000 files per matter — across all uploads, a single matter can contain up to 20,000 files total

If you need to upload more than 1,000 files or exceed 5GB, split your upload into multiple batches. Each batch is processed independently and counts toward the 20,000 file matter limit.
