How Integration Syncing Works in Eve
Last updated: March 10, 2026
Overview
Integration syncing is how Eve automatically pulls data from your connected case management system or document storage into Eve to keep your matters up to date. Eve syncs your data every night and also lets you manually trigger a sync to discover new matters during the day. Understanding the difference between these two sync types helps you know when to expect updates and when to take action.
How It Works
Eve connects to your case management system (such as Clio, SmartAdvocate, or Litify) or document storage (such as SharePoint, OneDrive, or Dropbox) and pulls in several types of data:
Matter information including names, statuses, and contacts
Files and folders from your connected systems
Case details and notes
User assignments
Sync times vary based on the amount of data and which system you're connected to. Matters with thousands of files will take longer to sync, which is normal behavior.
Eve uses two different sync mechanisms depending on when and why the sync runs. The automatic nightly sync runs overnight (typically between midnight and early morning) and updates all existing matters including status changes while also discovering new matters. The manual re-sync, triggered by clicking the re-sync button on the Integrations page or All Matters page, discovers new matters that aren't in Eve yet but does not update existing matters that have changed status.
If you moved a matter from closed back to open in your case management system, you'll need to wait for the nightly sync for it to update in Eve. The manual re-sync button won't update existing matters.
Key Terms
Automatic Nightly Sync: A sync that runs overnight automatically, updates all existing matters including status changes, and discovers new matters. Best for keeping everything up to date.
Manual Re-sync: A sync you trigger by clicking the re-sync button, discovers new matters that aren't in Eve yet, but does not update existing matters that have changed status. Best for getting new matters into Eve during the day.
Sync in Progress: A status indicator showing that Eve is currently pulling data from your connected system.
Sync Failed: A status indicator showing that Eve encountered an issue while trying to sync data from your connected system.
