Demonstratives and Presentations
Last updated: September 29, 2026
Overview
A demonstrative is a visual built to make a case understandable: a treatment timeline, a damages board, a before-and-after of someone's life. It is an illustrative aid, not substantive evidence.
Eve builds demonstratives from the matter's own case file. You describe what you want in chat, Eve builds it from the file, and you refine it in the same conversation.
What Comes Out
PowerPoint (.pptx), fully editable. The right default for anything you will present, because polish in PowerPoint is almost always needed.
PDF, for a fixed version. Suits a mediation packet or something going to opposing counsel.
Image (.png or .jpg), a standalone graphic for dropping into another document or blowing up as a board.
Everything Eve finishes, standalone images included, is saved to the matter's Drafts.
What It Can Build
Treatment timeline. The injury and every treatment after it, spaced proportionally to real time so the length of a recovery is visible rather than described. Repeated visits group into labeled spans.
Damages summary. Past medical bills, future care costs, lost earnings, and general damages stacked into one total, each figure cited to its source document.
Before-and-after life impact. Two panels drawn from records and testimony: documented capabilities before, documented limitations after, with case photos where they exist.
Medical bills accumulation. Expenses climbing month by month from the date of injury, each provider's charges cited to the billing record.
Defendant knowledge timeline. Every date the defendant knew of the hazard or the misconduct, cited to complaints, inspection reports, internal emails, and prior incidents.
Employment retaliation timeline. Employment history as a visible span against what followed the first protected activity, spaced proportionally.
Lost earnings comparison. Pre-incident earnings trajectory against actual post-incident earnings, the gap shaded and totaled, built only from tax returns, pay stubs, or an economist's report in the file.
Opening statement deck. Each beat of the narrative paired with evidence from the file, shown as callout enlargements, sequenced to follow the opening.
Anatomical illustrations and mechanism-of-injury diagrams are possible, with the caveats below.
Where the Data Comes From
Eve builds from the matter's own records, bills, photos, testimony, and documents. Tell Eve to use only what the file supports. A timeline works because every date on it is real and cited; a date nobody can source turns the exhibit into a liability in a deposition.
Demonstratives are produced inside Eve's own environment, using the same model providers as everything else Eve writes, combined with Eve's existing matter and case intelligence. There is no external graphics engine and no third-party vendor receiving case data.
Who It Is For
Plaintiff trial attorneys and paralegals needing a visual summary of a case for mediation, trial, or an internal presentation.
Current Limitations
It is slower than chat. Building a demonstrative takes longer than a text response. Do not start one two minutes before a call.
Layout and formatting have rough edges. Plan on manual polish in PowerPoint. The .pptx output is fully editable for exactly this reason.
Medical illustrations, anatomical visuals, and crash reconstructions need close review. Eve will produce them, and they are not yet at a standard to rely on without several sets of eyes on the result.
Demonstratives are illustrative aids, not substantive evidence. Review the content and the citations against the record before anything is used in a proceeding.
Key Terms
