How to Set Up a DMS Integration in Eve

Last updated: March 10, 2026

Overview

This article walks you through connecting a supported document management system to Eve so that case materials sync automatically. Setting up a DMS integration ensures Eve always has access to the latest documents without manual uploads, enabling accurate AI-driven workflows. This guide covers authorization, folder selection, and updating sync settings after initial setup.

Prerequisites

  • Your firm must use a supported DMS (OneDrive, Google Drive, Dropbox, SharePoint, NetDocs, Clio Documents, Growpath, CasePacer, SmartAdvocate, or Litify Docrio)

  • You must have administrator or authorized user credentials for your DMS

  • Folders you plan to sync must contain unencrypted, accessible files (password-protected documents are not supported)

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Request Integration Enablement from Your Customer Success Manager — Contact your dedicated Customer Success Manager to request that the DMS integration be enabled for your Eve account. For standard integrations, this is typically completed during onboarding. Your CSM will confirm which DMS you're connecting and ensure Eve is configured to support it. Once enabled, you'll receive confirmation that you can proceed with setup.

  2. Authorize Eve to Access Your DMS — Navigate to the integrations page in Eve and locate the card for your document management system. Click the authorization button to begin the secure connection process. You'll be redirected to your DMS login page where you'll grant Eve read-only access to your documents. Standard integrations require minimal technical effort and can often be completed by your firm administrator. If your firm uses provisioned access or custom configurations, coordinate with your IT team to ensure proper authorization and network access.

  3. Select Folders for Syncing — After authorization, Eve will prompt you to choose which folders it should monitor and sync. Select the folders that contain case materials you want available in Eve. Eve will display your folder structure from the DMS—choose folders at the level that makes sense for your workflow. Once you confirm your selection, Eve will begin syncing those folders on a nightly basis. You can also initiate a manual sync at any time from within a matter in Eve.

  4. Verify Document Sync and Access — After the initial sync completes, navigate to a matter in Eve and confirm that documents from your selected folders appear correctly. Files should display with their original names and folder structure preserved. Eve does not rename or reorganize your documents—it displays them in context for AI workflows while leaving your DMS unchanged. If documents are missing or marked as "Sync Failed," refer to the troubleshooting article for diagnosing sync issues.

  5. Update Folder Access as Needed — To change which folders Eve syncs, return to the integrations page in Eve, locate your DMS integration card, and click the gear icon. This opens a view of the folders Eve currently has access to. Update your folder selection and confirm the changes. Eve will begin syncing the newly selected folders on the next nightly sync cycle. If a synced folder is later deleted or moved in your DMS, Eve will mark associated files as "Sync Failed" but will retain access to the last synced versions until you select a new folder.
