How to Set Up a Case Management System Integration in Eve
Last updated: March 10, 2026
Overview
This article walks you through connecting your case management system to Eve so that matters and documents sync automatically. Setting up a CMS integration allows new cases in your CMS to appear automatically in Eve, files to be ingested without manual uploads, and AI-powered workflows to trigger seamlessly. Most standard integrations can be enabled with minimal technical support, though some may require coordination with your IT team for API access and configuration.
Prerequisites
Administrative access to your case management system
API credentials or access permissions from your CMS provider
Contact information for your IT team (if API configuration requires technical coordination)
Your dedicated Customer Success Manager's contact information
Step-by-Step Instructions
Contact Your Customer Success Manager — Reach out to your dedicated CSM to initiate the integration setup process. They will confirm which CMS you're connecting (Clio, Litify, SmartAdvocate, Growpath, or a custom OpenAPI-enabled system) and provide next steps tailored to your platform.
Obtain API Credentials from Your CMS — Log in to your case management system and navigate to the API or integration settings. Generate or retrieve the API credentials (typically an API key, client ID, or OAuth token) required for Eve to connect. If you don't have access to these settings, coordinate with your IT team to obtain the credentials. Your CSM can provide specific guidance based on your CMS platform.
Provide API Credentials to Eve — Share the API credentials securely with your Customer Success Manager. Eve will use these credentials to establish a secure, encrypted connection to your CMS. You should receive confirmation once the connection is successfully established.
Configure Sync Settings — Work with your CSM to define which matters or document types should sync to Eve. Depending on your CMS, you can configure eligibility based on folder structure, tags, case fields, or other criteria. This ensures only relevant data is pulled into Eve and keeps your workspace organized.
Choose Your Matter Creation Mode — Decide whether you want on-demand matter creation (matters are created in Eve but only activated when you choose) or sync matter creation (matters are automatically created and activated whenever a new case is opened in your CMS). Your CSM will help you select the mode that best fits your firm's workflow.
Verify the Integration — Once setup is complete, confirm that matters are appearing in Eve as expected. Check that documents from your CMS are being ingested correctly. If you encounter any issues, contact your CSM for troubleshooting support. The integration operates on a nightly sync schedule by default, but you can manually initiate a sync from any matter at any time to pull in the latest documents immediately.
