Step-by-Step Instructions

Verifying Factual Statements in Drafts

  1. Highlight the text you want to verify — While reviewing a draft (demand letter, complaint, discovery response, or other document), use your cursor to highlight any sentence or section containing a factual statement you want to check.

  2. Select "Show Sources" from the menu — After highlighting the text, a menu will appear. Click "Show Sources" to reveal the source documents and passages that Eve relied on when drafting that statement.

  3. Review the source documents — Eve displays the relevant passages that support the highlighted text. Click on any source to view the full document with the relevant section highlighted. When done correctly, you should see the original source material that Eve used to generate the factual claim, allowing you to cite-check and validate facts without leaving your draft.

  4. Verify critical facts before finalizing — Always verify critical facts, dates, quotes, and legal citations using this process before submitting discovery responses or court filings. Treat Inline Sources as a built-in cite-check tool and make verification a quick, routine part of your workflow.
