Eve's Capabilities and Limitations

Last updated: March 10, 2026

Overview

Eve is an AI platform designed to help plaintiff law firms analyze documents, conduct research, and draft legal content, but it has specific technical constraints around data processing, internet access, and computational tasks. Understanding what Eve can and cannot do helps you use the platform effectively and avoid errors in your workflow.

How It Works

Eve operates within defined technical boundaries that affect how you upload files, conduct legal research, and request certain types of analysis. These limitations are intentional design choices that balance performance, accuracy, and system stability.

Data Upload Limits

Eve supports large document collections but enforces maximum thresholds to maintain response quality:

  • Per session or project: Maximum of 20,000 documents

  • Individual PDF files: Up to 10,000 pages and 2.5GB in size

  • Medical Overviews: Support up to 20,000–30,000 pages of medical records

If you exceed these limits, Eve may return errors or incomplete responses. Break large document sets into multiple sessions if needed.

Legal Research and Case Citations

Eve can discuss case law and legal concepts, but for reliable case citations and case outcome verification, you must use the Legal Research Skill. If you ask Eve to cite cases or legal precedent outside the Legal Research Skill, there is a risk of missing citations or incorrect case outcomes.

Large Language Model (LLM) Limitations

Eve inherits certain constraints common to all LLM-based systems:

  • No internet access: Eve cannot browse the web, retrieve real-time information, or access external databases. It works only with documents you upload and its pre-trained knowledge.

  • No math or numeric calculations: Eve is not designed to perform mathematical operations or calculations. It can read numbers, understand page references, and interpret tables with numeric data, but it cannot solve equations or compute totals.

  • No image processing: Eve cannot process or understand complex images, diagrams, charts, or visual content within documents.

If your task requires any of these capabilities, you will need to use external tools or manually complete those portions of the work.
