Quote Verification

Last updated: March 10, 2026

Overview

Quote Verification is Eve's built-in accuracy feature that automatically verifies whether quotes in Eve's responses match the exact text found in your case documents. This feature helps you trust and verify AI-generated responses by performing an automatic audit on all quotes Eve sources from your documents, addressing the hallucination risks inherent in generative AI usage for legal work.

How It Works

After Eve generates an answer, she automatically runs validation checks on the final response. The Quote Verification process detects any quotes in the answer and verifies that each quote is found inside one of the provided documents. Eve will not run quote verification on quotes of less than 20 characters, as short quotes might apply to multiple sources and locations and aren't distinct enough to cite accurately.

You can prompt Eve to include quotes in her responses to leverage this feature. For example: "Please respond to this special interrogatory: . Before providing your answer, please outline the key quotes from the documents that support your answer."

Key Terms

  • Green (Success): Eve successfully identified the quote in the document—matching word for word. You can click on the quote to jump directly to that spot in the document.

  • Yellow (Partial Match): Eve identified a similar, but not exact, quote in the document. You can click on the partial match to jump to that spot in the document to verify the information yourself.

  • Not Found: Eve was unable to find a match for this quote. You should manually verify the quote in the document.
