Overview

Agent Mode is Eve's advanced AI mode that delivers expanded reasoning, transparent audit trails, and comprehensive document analysis for complex legal questions. It leverages agentic AI technology to tackle multi-step questions, search large document sets, and show the full reasoning process behind every answer. Agent Mode is designed to become the default mode for all queries in Eve, eliminating the need to manually switch between modes for different types of questions.

How It Works

Agent Mode operates differently from Eve's other modes by combining deep reasoning with transparent work product. When you ask Eve a question in Agent Mode, she:

  • Searches across large volumes of documents to find relevant information

  • Reasons over multiple sources and iterates through complex, multi-step questions

  • Displays thinking traces that show exactly how each conclusion was reached

  • Produces comprehensive, well-organized answers with clear layout and source citations

  • Creates an instant audit trail showing which documents were consulted and which reasoning steps were followed

Mode Comparison

Eve offers three modes that users can switch between:

  • Agent Mode: Handles complex, multi-step questions with transparent reasoning. Searches and strategizes across large document sets. Produces comprehensive answers with visible thinking traces. Best for detailed playbooks and research across very large document sets.

  • Reasoning Mode: Eve's previous advanced reasoning mode. Agent Mode is designed to provide better responses across all query types.

  • Fast Mode: Eve's non-reasoning chat version for quick, straightforward questions.

Agent Mode is fully backwards compatible, allowing users to return to Reasoning Mode or Fast Mode if needed. The mode selection is "sticky"—if you select a specific mode, it remains active even after refreshing the page.

Playbook Creation

Agent Mode can create detailed playbooks when asked, allowing users to spend less time on prompt engineering and more time on legal work. When Eve creates a playbook in Agent Mode, she structures the instructions and steps based on the user's request.
