Skills, Playbooks, and Blueprints in Eve

Last updated: March 10, 2026

Overview

Skills are one-button actions in Eve that help you complete specific legal tasks efficiently. They enable you to automate workflows, draft documents in your firm's style, and execute complex analyses without rewriting instructions every time.

How It Works

Skills in Eve come in three distinct types, each designed for different use cases:

Eve Skills are pre-built features engineered by Eve that perform specific legal tasks. These include Medical Overview, Fact Search, and Discovery Response Generation. Eve Skills are available to all users and cannot be edited or customized.

Blueprints are AI-powered smart templates that enable Eve to draft legal documents matching your firm's tone, style, and formatting. You create a Blueprint by uploading 2-3 example DOCX files that represent your best work. Eve learns from the structure, tone, and formatting of these examples to generate new documents that match your style. Blueprint quality depends directly on the quality and consistency of the example documents you provide. Discovery Response Blueprints are a specialized variant optimized specifically for drafting responses to discovery requests.

Playbooks are saved prompts that allow you to perform multi-step analyses and automate repeatable workflows. When you write an effective prompt in a conversation with Eve, you can save it as a Playbook and reuse it with one click in future matters. Playbooks execute the exact instructions you provide when you run them.

Visibility Controls

When creating Blueprints or Playbooks, you control who can access them:

  • Only me: The skill is private to your account and no one else can see or use it

  • Shared: The skill is available to others in your firm

Regular users can create and manage their own skills but cannot access other users' private skills by default.

Firm Administrator Capabilities

Users with Firm Administrator permissions have additional capabilities for managing skills across the organization:

  • View and manage all skills created by any user within the firm

  • Edit, publish, unpublish, or delete any skill regardless of who created it

  • Grant or revoke Firm Admin permissions and manage user access

  • Standardize workflows by managing shared content

  • Track skill usage and adoption across the organization

Organization and Access

Skills appear in two places in Eve:

  • Skill Library: A central location where you can view, create, edit, and organize all available skills in your organization

  • Within matters: Blueprints and Playbooks appear as individual skill cards that you can run directly while working on a case

You can organize skills using tags such as "Discovery," "Pre-litigation," "Intake," or practice area names. The Skill Library provides filtering by tag, type, or sharing settings to help you quickly find the skills you need.
