How to Edit Eve's Lead Scoring Criteria

Last updated: September 21, 2026

Eve ships with default criteria for personal injury and for labor and employment. The PI default is built on three questions: how bad is the injury, can we prove fault, and are the damages real and documented. The L&E default works through five: how serious the violation is, what's at stake financially, how strong the evidence is in documentation and witnesses, whether the timing and the statute still work, and whether there are red flags like an inconsistent story or an employer too small to fall under the federal claims. The defaults cover most firms' intake with minor adjustments.

To edit them:

  1. Go to Settings → Intake.

  2. Under Scoring, find the card called Lead scoring.

  3. Click the card to expand it.

  4. Edit the criteria text.

  5. Click Save.

New leads use the updated criteria immediately.

Start from the default and adjust it rather than writing new criteria from scratch. In most cases the default is already close to how a firm evaluates cases, and only two or three firm-specific rules need adding: the case types the firm won't take, the coverage floor below which a case isn't worth pursuing, and the minimum time required on the statute.

Ask yourself before editing the text: Which single fact, heard on an intake call, would make a case worth taking seriously, and which single fact would rule it out regardless of everything else?

Those two answers are the backbone of a good set of criteria!

Testing a change

  1. Open a lead you already know well.

  2. Click Regenerate on the lead overview.

  3. Compare the new score and rationale against what you know the right answer to be.

Do this on three or four leads across different case types before deciding the criteria are right. One lead won't tell you whether you moved the line or just moved one lead.

Keep in Mind

  • Case-type-specific criteria are a full replacement, not an add-on. To score auto accidents differently from dog bites, the criteria need the complete scoring logic for both. A base set with a conditional bolted on isn't supported.

  • Saving new criteria doesn't immediately rescore existing leads. New leads use the new criteria immediately; leads already in the system keep their score until you open one and click Regenerate, one at a time.

  • Scoring is firm-wide. One set of criteria per firm, not per office or per intake team.

Editing criteria doesn't touch existing scores, doesn't delete anything, and doesn't affect any matter. Existing leads, their scores, and every matter stay exactly as they were. If a change makes scoring worse, edit it back!
