How to Create a Playbook in Eve

This article shows you how to save a prompt as a Playbook in Eve so you can reuse it across multiple matters. You'll learn how to use the Magic Wand icon to instantly create a Playbook from any great prompt, refine it over time, and decide whether to share it with your firm or keep it private.

Prerequisites

  • You must have an active Eve workspace

  • You should have already run at least one successful prompt in a matter that you want to reuse

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Find a Great Prompt to Save — While chatting with Eve in a matter, identify a prompt that produced useful results and that you'll want to use again. This could be an analytical task, a document review workflow, or any repeatable question you ask Eve regularly.

  2. Click the Magic Wand Icon — Beneath the prompt message you want to save, click the Magic Wand icon. This instantly saves the prompt as a new Playbook without requiring any additional setup. You should see confirmation that the Playbook has been created.

  3. Refine the Playbook Over Time — After running your new Playbook, ask Eve follow-up questions like "How could I ask this task of you in the future?" or "How can I improve the above prompt?" to get suggestions for refinement. You can then edit the Playbook based on these insights to improve its performance.

  4. Choose Sharing Settings — Decide whether to share the Playbook with your entire firm or keep it private. Playbooks live in your Skill Library. If you share with the firm, you enable standardized best practices across your team. If you keep it private, only you can access and use it.

  5. Standardize Repetitive Tasks — Use your Playbook to automate analytical tasks that you perform regularly, such as reviewing intake documents, analyzing discovery responses, or evaluating case information against a checklist. This saves time and improves consistency across similar matters.

  6. Enable Reasoning Mode for Complex Analysis (Optional) — For Playbooks that perform complex analysis or strategy work, you can configure them to use reasoning mode for deeper insights. Note that reasoning mode may take slightly longer to process but provides more thorough analysis.
