Updates Not Syncing from Eve to Clio
Last updated: March 10, 2026
Overview
Changes you make in Eve do not automatically push back to Clio. This occurs because the Clio integration uses one-way sync only—data flows from Clio into Eve, but not from Eve back to Clio. This affects all edits to Details, Contacts, Notes, and files in the Clio sections of your Eve Matter.
Before You Start — Diagnosis
Confirm the following before attempting any fixes:
You made changes to fields, contacts, or notes in the Details, Contacts, or Notes sections of an Eve Matter connected to Clio
You expected those changes to appear in your Clio account but they do not
The Matter in Eve displays the Clio connection icon, confirming it is synced from Clio
Fixes
Possible Cause: One-Way Sync Limitation
Cause: Eve's Clio integration only syncs data from Clio into Eve. Changes made in Eve are not pushed back to Clio because the integration is designed as one-way sync.
Steps:
Log in to your Clio account directly
Navigate to the Matter in Clio that corresponds to the Eve Matter you were editing
Make the desired changes to Details fields, Contacts, or Notes directly in Clio
Return to Eve and use the re-sync button in the Matter header to pull the updated data from Clio into Eve
Expected Outcome: Your changes now appear in both Clio and Eve. Future edits to these fields must continue to be made in Clio for them to persist and sync back to Eve.
Possible Cause: Attempting to Edit Read-Only Clio Sections in Eve
Cause: The Details, Contacts, Notes, and Clio File Management sections in Eve are read-only when a Matter is connected to Clio. Eve does not allow direct edits to these sections because they are managed in Clio.
Steps:
Identify which section you are trying to edit—Details, Contacts, Notes, or Clio files
Log in to Clio and make your changes there
Use the re-sync button in the Eve Matter header to pull the updated information from Clio
Expected Outcome: The updated information appears in the corresponding Eve section after re-sync. You will not be able to edit these sections directly in Eve.
Possible Cause: Uploading Files in Eve and Expecting Them in Clio
Cause: Files uploaded or created in Eve are stored in the Eve Files section only. These files do not sync back to Clio.
Steps:
If you need a file to appear in Clio, upload the file directly to the Matter in Clio
Return to Eve and use the re-sync button in the Matter header to pull the new file from Clio into the Clio Files section in Eve
If the file only needs to exist in Eve, leave it in the Eve Files section—it will remain available for Eve tasks but will not appear in Clio
Expected Outcome: Files uploaded to Clio appear in both Clio and the Clio Files section in Eve after re-sync. Files uploaded to Eve remain in Eve Files only and do not transfer to Clio.
