Step-by-Step Instructions

Running an Existing Playbook

  1. Upload Your Documents First — Before running any Playbook, upload all relevant case files to your matter. This ensures Eve has the information needed to generate meaningful, case-specific results rather than generic placeholder information. When done correctly, you'll see your uploaded files listed in the matter's document panel.

  2. Open the Skills Panel — Navigate to the Skills section in your matter by clicking the Skills button or browsing the Skill Library. You should see a list of available skills organized by type and practice area.

  3. Find Your Playbook — Browse the available Playbooks or use the search function to locate the one you need. You can filter by practice area or ownership (firm-created vs. Eve-provided). Click on a Playbook to preview its description and understand what analysis or workflow it will perform. When you've found the right Playbook, you'll see a clear description of its purpose and expected outputs.

  4. Select Context Files — Choose which documents Eve should analyze when running the Playbook. Be strategic with your selection: fewer files will produce faster responses, while more files will generate more comprehensive and detailed analysis. Include only the documents directly relevant to the Playbook's task. When done correctly, you'll see your selected files listed before execution.

  5. Run the Playbook — Click "Run" to execute the Playbook. Eve will automatically process all prompts in the sequence without further input from you. The Playbook runs in the background, so you can continue other work. When complete, you'll see the full output displayed in your matter with results for each prompt in the sequence.

  6. Review and Iterate on Results — Carefully review Eve's output and use follow-up questions to dig deeper or refine the analysis. Ask clarifying questions like "Why did you reach that conclusion?" or "Can you provide more detail on the second point?" to expand on specific areas. When done effectively, you'll have a comprehensive analysis tailored to your case's specific needs and your professional judgment.

Creating a Custom Playbook

  1. Start a Conversation with Eve — Work through a task with Eve using the chat feature in your matter. Test different prompts and approaches until you get a result that meets your needs. When you receive a high-quality output that you'd like to reuse on future matters, you're ready to save it as a Playbook.

  2. Save the Playbook — Click the "Teach Eve" button or the magic wand icon next to the successful prompt you want to save. Select "Playbook" as the skill type. You'll see a configuration panel open where you can set up your new Playbook.

  3. Configure Your Playbook — Enter a clear, descriptive name that explains what the Playbook does (e.g., "Personal Injury Case Evaluation" or "Employment Discrimination Initial Analysis"). Write a description explaining when and how to use this Playbook, what inputs it expects, and what outputs it generates. Add a practice area tag to help organize and filter Playbooks. Set visibility to "Only me" for personal use or "Shared with firm" to make it available to your team. When configured correctly, the Playbook will appear in your Skill Library with all metadata visible.

  4. Test and Refine Your Playbook — Run your new Playbook on a different matter to test its effectiveness and consistency. Review the results to ensure the prompts work well across different cases.
