Integration Sync Shows 'Sync in Progress' for Extended Time in Eve

Last updated: March 10, 2026

Overview

This article resolves the issue when your integration displays a "Sync in Progress" status for longer than expected. This can occur during manual syncs triggered from the Integrations page or All Matters page, or during the automatic nightly sync that runs overnight. The extended status may prevent you from seeing updated matter information or newly synced files.

Before You Start — Diagnosis

Confirm the following before attempting any fixes:

  • Check the current time to determine if the automatic nightly sync is running (typically between midnight and early morning)

  • Note whether you manually triggered a sync from the Integrations page or All Matters page

  • Check how many syncs you've triggered in the current session

Fixes

Possible Cause: Automatic Nightly Sync Running Normally

Cause: Eve's automatic nightly sync runs overnight and processes all your matters to keep data up to date. This is normal system behavior and will take time to complete depending on the amount of data being synced.

Steps: Allow the nightly sync to complete on its own without taking any action. The sync will finish automatically.

Expected Outcome: The "Sync in Progress" status will clear once the nightly sync completes, and all matter information, files, folders, case details, and user assignments will be updated.

Possible Cause: Browser Not Updating Status After Sync Completion

Cause: The sync may have already completed but your browser hasn't refreshed to show the current status.

Steps: Refresh your browser page to see the current sync status.

Expected Outcome: The page reloads and displays the updated status, either showing "Sync Complete" or the current state of any ongoing sync.

Possible Cause: Multiple Manual Syncs Queued Up

Cause: If you manually triggered a sync and then triggered another one before the first completed, the syncs queue up and extend the total sync time.

Steps: Allow the current sync to complete fully before starting another one. Avoid clicking the re-sync button multiple times in succession.

Expected Outcome: The queued syncs complete in order, and the "Sync in Progress" status clears. Future syncs will complete more quickly when triggered individually.
