Prerequisites

  • You have uploaded documents to Eve and received a response that includes quotes

  • The quotes in Eve's response are at least 20 characters long (shorter quotes cannot be verified by the system)

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Review Green Highlighted Quotes — When Eve highlights a quote in green, it has successfully found an exact match in your source documents. Click on the green highlighted quote to jump directly to that location in the source document. You should see the exact quoted text in context, confirming the information is accurate and properly sourced.

  2. Verify Yellow Highlighted Quotes — Yellow highlighting means Eve found similar phrasing or paraphrased information, but not an exact match. Click on the yellow highlighted quote to view what Eve identified as a partial match in the source document. Manually compare the quote in Eve's response to the text in the source document to confirm whether the information is accurate, even if the wording differs slightly.

  3. Manually Verify Red Highlighted Quotes — Red highlighting indicates Eve could not find a match for the quote in your documents. When you see red highlighting, manually search the source documents for the information using your document viewer's search function or by reviewing the relevant sections. If you cannot find the information in your documents, the quote may be inaccurate and should not be used.

  4. Use Fact Search for Exhaustive Verification — For critical facts or when you need to verify information across a large number of documents, use Eve's Fact Search feature to perform an exhaustive search. This helps you confirm that specific information appears in your documents and shows you all locations where it occurs, giving you greater confidence in the accuracy of Eve's response.

  5. Prompt Eve to Self-Check — If you have concerns about the accuracy of a response, ask Eve to "check your work and make sure all of your results are verified from the documents I provided." Eve will re-examine its response against the source documents and flag any information it cannot verify, helping you identify potential issues before you rely on the response.

Break Complex Tasks into Smaller Chunks — For complex cases or queries that return numerous quotes or require detailed analysis, create separate Sessions for each unique task rather than handling everything in one long conversation.
