Last updated: June 26, 2026
Overview
This article shows you how to edit existing Agents in Eve. You can modify names, descriptions, tags, visibility settings, prompt instructions, and example files. These changes can be made from the Agents tab.
Prerequisites
An active Eve Legal account
Appropriate user permissions to edit Agents (you can edit agents you created; Firm Administrators can edit any agent in the organization)
The agent you want to edit must already exist in your Agents library
Step-by-Step Instructions
Editing from the Agents tab
Navigate to the Agents tab — Log in to Eve Legal and click "Agents" in the main navigation menu on the left. You will see all available agents in your organization.
Locate the agent you want to edit — Use the search bar or filter dropdown to find the specific agent you wish to modify. Filters allow you to view agents by tag, type, or sharing settings.
Open the edit menu — Click the three-dot menu (...) on the right side of the agent card.
Select Edit — Click Edit from the dropdown menu. The agent editor will open with the current agent configuration.
Make your changes — Modify any of the following:
Name and description: Update the agent name or description to better reflect its purpose
Tags: Add or remove tags to improve organization and discoverability
Visibility settings: Change between "Only me" (private to your account) or "Shared" (available to others in your firm)
For Chat Agents: Edit the prompt instructions that will be executed when running the playbook
For Drafting Agents: Upload new example DOCX files or remove existing ones to refine how Eve drafts documents in your style
Advanced Agent configurations: Background knowledge for consistent reference material, triggers to make auto-agents!
Save your changes — Click Save to apply all modifications. The updated agent will immediately be available in your Agents tab and in any matters where it can be used.
