How to Use Central Library Files in a Matter

This article shows you how to select and reference Central Library files when working inside a Matter in Eve. Central Library files are organization-wide resources that can be used alongside your Matter-specific files when chatting with Eve, drafting from blueprints, or running playbooks. This guide covers how to access the Library selector, choose files before asking questions or running skills, and use Library files in skills like Fact Search.

Prerequisites

  • You must be working inside a Matter (Central Library files are not available in Leads)

  • Your firm administrator must have already created collections and uploaded files to Central Library

  • The files you want to use must be in an active Central Library collection

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Locate the Library Selector in Your Matter — Open the Matter where you want to use Central Library files. Just under the chat box, you'll see two sections side by side: Matter Files and Library. The Library section is where you access Central Library files. You should see the Library label next to the Matter Files section.

  2. Select Central Library Files Before Asking a Question — Before typing a question or prompt in the chat box, click on the Library section to open the file selector. Browse the available collections and check the boxes next to the files you want Eve to reference. Once selected, these files will be active for your next question or task. You'll see the selected files indicated in the Library section.

  3. Use Library Files When Running a Skill — When you run a skill (such as Fact Search, drafting from a blueprint, or running a playbook), Eve will prompt you to choose which files to use. You'll see an option to include files from your Library alongside your Matter files. Check the box to include Library files in the skill execution. The skill will then search or reference both your Matter files and the selected Central Library files. You should see confirmation that Library files are included in the skill run.

  4. Verify Library Files Are Active — After selecting Library files, confirm they appear as active in the Library section under the chat box. When you ask a question or run a skill, Eve will reference these files along with any selected Matter files. If the files are selected correctly, you'll see them listed in the Library section, and Eve's responses will draw from both your Matter files and the Central Library files you've chosen.
