How to Respond to Discovery Requests in Eve
Last updated: March 10, 2026
Overview
This article walks you through using Eve's Discovery Response skill to draft responses to interrogatories, requests for production, requests for admissions, or bills of particulars. You'll learn how to select the discovery type, upload the opposing party's requests, apply or create a blueprint for formatting and tone, choose source documents for Eve to reference, and iterate on the generated draft. This workflow is designed for attorneys responding to discovery in litigation matters.
Prerequisites
Access to the matter in Eve where the discovery responses will be drafted
The discovery document propounded by the opposing party (uploaded to Eve or available to upload)
(Optional) A trained blueprint for discovery responses in your preferred format and style
Key case documents uploaded to Eve (such as case overviews, consult notes, medical records, or police reports)
Step-by-Step Instructions
Access the Discovery Response Skill — From the Skills table in Eve, click on the Discovery Response tile in the first row. You should see options to begin configuring your discovery response.
Select the Discovery Type — Choose one response type: interrogatories, requests for production, requests for admissions, or bill of particulars. Click Next. If you receive combined discovery requests (multiple types in one document), you can handle them together by training a blueprint that contains the types you want, and Eve will generate a single document with all responses.
Upload or Select the Discovery Document — Search for the discovery document propounded by the defense by name, select it from the files already in your matter, or upload it to Eve if it's not yet in the system. Once selected, the document should appear as the source for the discovery requests Eve will respond to.
Select or Create a Blueprint — If you have an existing blueprint for discovery responses, select it from the list. If you don't have one, click the blue Create Blueprint button. Upload two complete DOCX documents for Eve to analyze structure, tone, style, and formatting. Name your blueprint and choose whether to share it across the account. Eve will generate the blueprint and automatically select it. Click Next. The blueprint ensures your responses match your firm's preferred format and tone.
Select Source Documents for Drafting — Choose the documents Eve should reference when drafting responses. Helpful examples include case overviews (consult notes or data sheets that provide background on the case and causes of action), previous correspondence (context on prior interaction with opposing counsel), and key evidence (medical records, police reports, or other crucial case materials). Be selective—uploading too much information can cause unfocused answers. Once you've selected all relevant documents, click Draft Discovery Response. Eve will generate the draft responses based on the selected documents and blueprint.
Review and Iterate on the Draft — Review the generated responses in the draft view. If a response needs adjustment, open a Talk to Eve session to request changes. Copy and paste content between the draft and the chat session as needed to collaborate with Eve on revisions. For example, you might say: "Can you respond to this interrogatory again, but make sure that you are prioritizing making objections. Go through this response and find any other areas that we could raise an objection to." Continue iterating with Eve until the responses meet your needs, then finalize the document for use in your case.
