How to Set Up a Communications Agent in Eve
Last updated: June 9, 2026
Overview
This article walks through creating and configuring a communications agent that places outbound case-work calls in Eve. You set the agent's instructions, optional human-transfer rules, and a trigger that controls when it runs. Setup happens on the Agents page.
Step-by-Step Instructions
Create a new agent — On the Agents page, press Create agent. The new-agent setup opens.
Choose the Communications agent type — Select communications agent so the agent is configured for outbound calling.
Set the agent's instructions — Choose the default instructions or write your own to tell the agent what to accomplish on each call.
Pro tip: Ask Eve to help you create a call flow using the provided template. Explain what you want the call to do, and paste the provided template into the chat. Then, ask her to write new instructions using the template.
Set up warm transfers (if needed) — If the agent should hand a call to a person, pick your transfer conditions so calls route to the right human. Skip this if the agent never needs to transfer.
Pick a trigger to kick off the agent (optional) — Choose how the agent starts: On case update (something changes within the matter), On auditor findings (the nightly Auditor run surfaces something), Scheduled (runs on a set cadence), or Manual (you start it yourself). If you set a scheduled agent to Manually selected matters only, you must toggle it on at the matter level for each matter where it should run.
Name the agent and set visibility — Give the agent a name and choose whether it is Private or Shared, then save. The agent now appears on the Agents page and runs according to the trigger you selected.
